Roll a Lego Dice Game
📝This post, Roll a LEGO Dice Game, was originally published in 2012 and has been updated with new information and resources.
I love dice games. My boys loved LEGO bricks. So naturally, I put the two together and came up with this little gem — the Roll a LEGO Dice Game. Clever, right? 😄
Why Play Roll a LEGO Game?
Roll-and-draw games have always been a favorite in our house because they are easy to set up and everyone can play. This LEGO version adds a little building fun while practicing important skills like taking turns, following directions, counting, and problem-solving. Plus, kids are highly motivated when they know a LEGO creation is waiting at the end! Best of all, you only need a few LEGO pieces and a die to get started.

✔️A die
✔️ LEGO pieces of your choice

Why This Game is So Fun
If you have ever dug through a bin of LEGO bricks, you know those little extra pieces are the best part — the tiny cups, the backpacks, the handcuffs, the walkie-talkies. My boys would spend just as much time playing with the tiny accessories as they did building! The backpacks, tools, hats, and walkie-talkies were always the most exciting pieces in the bin.
How to Play Roll a LEGO
Roll a LEGO Person
🧱 The goal is to be the first player to build a complete LEGO person!
🧱 Pull out a variety of shirts, pants, heads, hats, hair, bags, and tools, and set them up on the Roll a LEGO Person board. Then roll the die and collect your pieces:
🧱Roll a 1 → choose a shirt
🧱Roll a 5 → choose a backpack or suitcase
🧱And so on!
Players take turns rolling until someone has a complete LEGO person. Want to make it trickier? Add a rule that hats, hair, and accessories can only be collected after the body is complete!

How to Play: Roll a LEGO Vehicle
Not every child wants to build a LEGO person. My boys often preferred building vehicles, so I created a vehicle version of the game too.
Simply create a vehicle base for each player and assign different vehicle parts to the numbers on the die. Players roll and collect pieces until their vehicle is complete.
