Oh my goodness—I am so excited to share these adorable free printable number cards with you!
I recently came across the cutest font and instantly felt inspired to create something fun and useful for the classroom. You know that feeling when you find just the right font and your teacher brain starts spinning? That was me…so these printable number cards were born!
These are super simple to use—just print, cut, and they’re ready to go. No prep—just print and go!
I also added a coordinating background page you can print on the back of the cards to give them an extra polished look. Totally optional, but definitely fun!
These printable number cards are perfect for home or school, and work great for:
• math centers
• number recognition practice
• small group activities
• quick review or fast finishers
Simple, versatile, and classroom-ready—just the way I like it!
Preparing the Number Cards:
- Print the number cards then send them through the printer one more time to add the background page.
- Cut the cards apart- laminate them if you like!
- Use the number cards for one or more of the math games described below.
There are so many ways to use these number cards, but here are a few of my go-to math games:
FLASHCARDS: Hold up a number card and have your child/student identify the number.
COUNTING ITEMS: Place a number card on the table. Have your child place that many objects on or near the card.
ORDERING: Shuffle the cards, then have your student arrange them from lowest to highest or from highest to lowest. You can also choose 3-5 non-consecutive cards and see if they can order them.
HIGHEST LOWEST: This game is played much like the traditional game of WAR. Divide the cards into two piles. Each player places one card on the table, and the player with the higher number takes both cards. Repeat until one player has all the cards. face down. You can also play with the lower number!
GUESS THE NUMBER: Lay out 3-6 cards. Do not put them in order. One player picks a number in their head or writes it on a sticky note. The other player then tries to guess the number. To make it even more interesting, use clues like, “The number is higher than ___ or lower than blank.”
NUMBER SLAP: Lay cards in a grid face up or you can even hang them on the wall. One player names a number and the student has to tap the correct number. This can be done simply with a number or you can do addition/subtraction as clues. For example, the number I am thinking of is 3+4.”
NUMBER TOSS: Give players a bean bag. Lay the numbers on the floor. One player says a number and the other player tosses the bean bag on the correct number. This can also be done simply using a number, or you can do addition/subtraction as clues. For example, the number “I am thinking of is 3+4.”
PATTERNS: Created a pattern using the number cards and have your student finish the pattern. Missing numbers can come at the end or even in the middle of the row of numbers.
MEMORY: Print two sets of the cards and use them to play Memory
ROLL A DIE: Lay out the cards 1 through 6. Have your student roll a die and match their roll to the number on the card. You can also use two dice.
ROLL TWO DICE: Arrange the cards numbered 1 through 12. Have students roll both dice, add the numbers, and then match the sum to the correct card.
