What Should My Teacher Be For Halloween? A Fun Writing Activity
I just love activities where students get to share their ideas about their teacher — their responses are always so unique, creative, and often absolutely hilarious! When my teaching partner shared this Halloween writing idea with me, I knew I had to try it right away.
The Activity
The idea is simple: students decide what their teacher should be for Halloween and write about it. I introduced it to my class, and they were off with the most clever ideas! Here are a few of my favorites:
“My teacher should be Spiderman for Halloween.”
“My teacher should be a chef for Halloween.”
“My teacher should be a nice witch for Halloween.”
“My teacher should be a pug for Halloween.”
How We Did It
Before beginning, choose which template you would like your students to use. There are now 8 newly updated templates to choose from!
I then printed the writing template, added a photo of myself in the center, and made enough copies for each student.
I then asked my students what Halloween costume they would choose for me and why. You should have seen their faces light up! The ideas came pouring out — and what I loved most was how different each one was. Each choice perfectly reflected that student’s personality.
I then set them to work drawing my costume onto my photo and writing about what they chose. The results were priceless!
That’s it! So easy to prep and even easier to use!
Here are a few examples of what my students decided to dress me up as for Halloween.
