Scarecrow Crunch Activities
I have always loved reading scarecrow stories in the fall and doing activities to go along with them. Since my post on scarecrow stories, I have discovered a few new favorites and created some brand-new activities to go with them. I tried them out with my firsties last week, and they were a big hit!
I also love a good seasonal recipe, especially one that is kid-friendly and ties into what we are learning in the classroom! There are so many fun recipes out there, and this scarecrow-themed recipe has quickly become a class favorite.
Scarecrow Crunch
What You Need:
✔️1 bag of candy corn
✔️ 1 bag of m&ms
✔️ ½ bag of marshmallows
✔️ ½ box of Chex Cereal
✔️ ½ bag of pretzels
Before proceeding, check for students with food allergies! You may need to substitute or leave out some ingredients!
Directions for Assembly:
Combine all ingredients in a big bowl. Mix them together. Take a small scoop of the Scarecrow Crunch and put it in a small baggie. Do not put too much in each bag, or it will make the graphing activity too difficult! Keep extras on hand for snacking!
You can add the Scarecrow Crunch label included in the product if you like!

Preparing the Group:
Tell students you are going to give them Scarecrow Crunch and use the ingredients for a graphing activity. Remind them that the Scarecrow Crunch in the bag is not for eating- yet!
Ready? Go:
Give students a bag of Scarecrow Crunch and have them pour it out and sort the ingredients on a clean towel or napkin.
Once the Scarecrow Crunch is sorted, students use the Scarecrow Crunch Graphing Page to record their findings, then complete the data collection page.

Finally — and this is everyone’s favorite part — the students got to create their very own Scarecrow Crunch recipes.
Don’t they look delicious?!
