Football Activities for Kids
Living in the Seattle area, I know firsthand how exciting Super Bowl season can be — especially when you have a classroom full of first graders who are absolutely buzzing with football fever! Even if you are not a huge football fan yourself, there is something so fun about channeling all that energy into meaningful learning activities. These football activities are among my favorite ways to bring Super Bowl excitement into the classroom while keeping students engaged and learning.

Free Football Ten Frame Playing Cards
I am so excited to share these FREE Football Ten Frame Playing Cards! There are two sets — the first has simply ten frames on each card, and the second set includes both the numbers and the ten frames. Once you have printed the template, choose which set and football paper you would like to use for the front of the cards. For all you Seahawks fans, the green and blue are for you!! Copy on card stock or heavier paper, cut out the cards, shuffle, and play!
These cards can be used to play any game you would normally play with regular playing cards. Some ideas include Go Fish, Memory, Snap, Old Maid, or War. We have also used them to play a fun place value game called Build a Bigger Number!

Football Math Facts Field Game
This football-themed math facts game is one of my students’ all-time favorites! Players draw two cards, solve the math fact, and if the answer is correct, the player moves his football ahead 10 yards. The game is over when someone scores a touchdown! This game works for addition, subtraction, and multiplication, making it perfect for a range of learners. And the best part? The game can easily be adapted for other skill practice too — think sight words, vocabulary, foreign language, and more!
