One of my favorite science units to teach in first grade was our Farm to Table unit. We spent several weeks learning where everyday foods come from, and the chocolate lessons were always a class favorite! My students were amazed to discover that chocolate starts as a fruit growing on a tree. Watching their surprise as they followed the journey from cacao pod to chocolate bar never got old.

Those lessons eventually inspired several classroom resources that pair perfectly with these books.
