A Game for Getting to Know Your Class
I am so excited to try this game with my new crew of first graders in a few weeks. Most of my kids already know each other, but we still have a few newbies and I am hoping this will help everyone get to know each other’s names.
Materials
templates available here
card stock for durability
laminate if desired
Preparation
Print out the templates on card stock. You should have enough cards for each person in your class as well as yourself.
Cut out the cards.
Laminate if you like and write with a vis a vis marker.
Grab your class list and begin by putting your first students name in the first part of the card.
When you get to the last student on your list, add the first student on your list to the “Who Is?” section. This will make the game go full circle and end on the same person who started.
To Play
Mix up the cards and hand one to each student.
Choose one student to begin (and end) the game.
That student begins by reading ONLY the “Who is?” section of his card.
The student with the answer to the “Who is?” section reads the “I am…” section on his card and then the “Who is?”
Play continues around the group until all students have had a chance to read his or her card and the game has returned to the person who started.
