Have you heard of the Captain No Beard stories?

Well, I hadn’t until recently when we were lucky enough to be sent a set of the books to review. My boys and I have read every one of them together. They love the stories and I love the lessons. After reading the very first book, The Crew Goes COCONUTS!, I asked my youngest what he thought and he literally screamed, “AWESOME!!”

Captain No Beard is actually a little boy named, Alexander, his ship is actually his bedroom and his crew is actually family members and stuffed animals. Alexander sets sail aboard the Flying Dragon where he and his mates encounter a variety of situations that require the crew to work together and to problem solve.

The Captain No Beard stories are written and illustrated by Carol P. Roman. Roman started writing the Captain No Beard adventures on a dare from one of her sons and that dare has resulted in a series of books that not only entertain, but teach children important life lessons. Some of the topics woven into the stories are bullying, sharing, stranger danger and being patient and tolerant.

Which story is our favorite?

The Crew Goes COCONUTS!

This story begins with a thirsty crew who has nothing left to drink and blame it on Matie, the goat. Some of the crew members become angry with Matie and begin to bully her. When Captain No Beard hears all the fuss, he takes over and teaches the crew not only is bullying is wrong, but also the importance of respecting one another.
