Handmade Valentines for Preschoolers
Looking for handmade Valentines that your preschooler can make? Well, look no further!
It is that time of year again when we have to make Valentines for the children in my boys’ classes. My eldest wrote and decorated his Valentines for his classmates, but my youngest, who is 3, is not ready for that kind of endeavour. I really wanted him to create the Valentines he takes to school on Thursday. So we took out some paints and I just let him create. He made 4-5 different paintings that we set aside to dry.
The next day, when I took the paintings out to create his Valentines, he took the papers, grabbed his scissors and started cutting. So, I ditched my original plan and let him take the lead. He spent quite a bit of time chopping his artwork into little pieces.
Meanwhile, I quickly cut out some red rectangles.
I passed him a glue bottle and he added glue to the papers. I added some glue as well.
Then he glued some of the pieces he had cut onto the red rectangles. His big brother helped a bit too. 🙂
And so he had created all the Valentines he needed for his classmates. I felt really good that the work of 95% his own and he was really proud of he created.
I then added his classmates’ names to each card with a Sharpie and the Valentine cards were ready to go to school on Thursday!
