5 Great Songs for Clean Up Time
I am not a fan of clean-up time because it always seems to be a battle. My kids spend far more time playing and rediscovering their toys than cleaning up. It is not much better in my classroom either. Long ago when I was teaching preschoolers, I would play “Whistle While You Work” from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves during clean-up time and encouraged the children to be done by the time the song was over. The musical cue definitely helped. My son came home from preschool this year and told me his teacher plays, “I Like to Move It” from Madagascar during clean-up time and lo and behold, when I played it at home, he cleaned up! It also helped him get up in the morning!! So, as I look ahead to clean-up time in my first grade classroom this fall, I compiled a list of clean-up songs to use. Here is what I found:
Clean Up by Ralph (Ralph’s World: Happy Lemons)
Clean My Room by the Imagination Movers (Juice Box Heros)
I Like to Move It from Madagascar, the movie
Whistle While You Work from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves
Clean It Up by Laurie Berkner (Buzz, Buzz)
Do you know any great clean-up songs?
