Two Fresh Sight Words Practice Ideas
Sight word practice was becoming a bit tedious here so I decided to spice things up a bit. Here is what I came up with:
Sight Word High Five
I wrote my son’s weekly sight words on colored cards (which we do each week) and hung them on the wall by the front door. As we leave for the morning (or arrive home after school), I have my son read a word and then give it High 5. He loves this! I love it because it is simple, fast and easy to remember since it is the last thing we see before leaving and the first thing we see when we arrive home.
Around and Around with Sight Words
I wrote my son’s sight words around the edge of a paper plate in different colors and had my son read each word as he moved the clothespin around the plate. This is not only good for sight words, but it also gets a little fine motor practice in as well.
