Mixed Short Vowel Games
These games are created to help students practice their short vowel sounds. The first game practices just short o, a and i and the second game adds in short u. Both games work well with Words Their Way Within Word Pattern Sorts 25 and 26.

print templates on card stock
cut out spinners, attach a paperclip with a brad as shown in the photo below.
Optional: create a die instead of a spinner. I used a wooden block, wrote the short vowels on 5 of the 6 sides and “roll again” on the 6th.
Directions for Play
Players begin at the start, spin the spinner, identify the short vowel sound the spinner landed on and move their playing piece to the first image with that short vowel sound. Subsequent players repeat these steps until the reach the end of the playing board.
