FREE Trapped in a Snow Globe Writing Printable
UPDATED 12.16.19
I’ve seen this all over Pinterest in a variety of different formats. I really wanted to do it last year with my class, but ran out of time so this year I was bound and determined to do it with my students. After checking out all the ways other people have done this with their students, I came up with my own version.
This version was my favorite and my main inspiration.
Materials
blue construction paper (full sheets)
blue, white, brown, green construction paper
hole puncher
hot glue
camera for taking photos of students
Preparation
Print templates
Trace the bowls onto blue paper and cut one out for each student
take a picture each student and print approximately 2×2
Note: When taking students’ photos ask them to assume a pose showing how they would feel inside a snow globe (ie happy, scared, angry, cold.)
Cut out each picture
Creating the Snow Globes
Give each student a blue circular paper.
Have them create snow scene on the paper.
Have them add their picture to the scene.
Hot glue the bowl to the paper.
Snow Globe Writing
Give each child a “think sheet” for planning their writing. Older students may not need the “think sheet.” Have students decide what three things they would do while stuck in a snow globe.
Have students use their “think sheet” to complete their writing.

Finishing Touch
Glue the writing paper and the snow globe to a large piece of blue construction paper and display!

Silly question, but did you use the 5oz or 12oz clear bowls? Also, I can’t find any places that print photos 2×2, so would you suggest a 2×3 or a 4×4 photo? Thanks!
Hi Natalie,
I used the 5 oz bowls (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0053KLWFE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) for this project. For the photos, I simply printed them using my color printer on regular paper and cut them out. You could always do 2×3 because you are going to trim them down anyway. Hope this helps!
Stephanie
Thank you!! Last question: What is the diameter of the 5x plates?
I’m not sure what plates you are talking about… Can you be more specific?
Sorry, I meant BOWLS, not plates 🙂
I am not really sure what the diameter is. So sorry!

What type of camera did you use to take the pictures? Could an iPhone work?
You can definitely use your iPhone! My teaching partner used her iPhone and they turned out great. I used my hand-held camera.
