Five Little Scarecrows Rhyme and Craft
I have shared quite a few Five Little Rhymes on BMTM over the past few years. And because of my latest fascination with scarecrows, I have added another one to the collection.
Five Little Scarecrow Rhymes
Five Little Scarecrows
Five little scarecrows by the old barn door;
One went home and then there were four.
Four little scarecrows by the old oak tree;
One went home and then there were three.
Three little scarecrows with nothing to do;
One went home and then there were two.
Two little scarecrows out in the sun;
One went home and then there was one.
One little scarecrow out in the field;
One wasn’t fun so then there were none!
Five Little Scarecrows
Five little scarecrows standing in a row,
The first one said, “Look, here come the crows!”
The second one said, “I am very small.”
The third one said, “But, I am very tall.”
The fourth one said, “I can bend my head.”
The fifth one said, “I can wave my arms, instead.”
Five little scarecrows standing in a row,
Count them as they move when the wind blows.
Five Stuffed Scarecrows
Five Stuffed Scarecrows, in the corn rows,
The first one said, “Go away, crows!”
The second one said, “I am very small,”
The third one said, “I am standing tall.”
The fourth one said, “On my head I wear a hat.”
The fifth one said, “By my feet runs a cat.”
Five stuffed scarecrows in the corn rows,
Moving left and right as the cool, fall wind blows.
Five Little Scarecrows
Five little scarecrows, by the old barn door,

Four little scarecrows, by the old oak tree,
One went home and then there were three
Three little scarecrows, with nothing to do,
One went home and then there were two.
Two little scarecrows, out in the sun,
One went home and then there was one.
One little scarecrow, all alone through the day,
He scared the crows and they all flew away.
Scarecrow Craft
Materials
colored felt
wooden skewers (popsicle sticks work too)
googly eyes
tan paper Easter grass
hot glue
scissors
The first step was creating some simple stencils for the shirt, hat and pants. I used an empty cereal box for this. We then traced the stencils on the felt and cut them out.
We decorated the clothing. My son added some pom-poms and a tie. I added some tan Easter grass to look like the straw poking out of the scarecrows clothing. We also added patches to some of their clothes.
Finally, I trimmed two skewers to the correct size and hot glued them to the back of each scarecrow as shown in the picture below.
Here are our five little scarecrows. My favorite is the one with the green and black clothes. 🙂
When using our scarecrows with the rhymes, we use the stands we created in our post, Fall Finger Plays.
