Coin Exchange Games
A few more coin games for you to try out with your students or kiddos. These two games are great for getting students comfortable with trading pennies for nickels and nickels for dimes. The games are pretty simple. All you need is a pile of coins, the template and a die.
Once the templates are ready choose which game you would like to start with. I always begin with trading pennies for nickels first. Then when my student has mastered that, we use the other game.
How to Play
The first player rolls the die and takes that many pennies. He puts the pennies on the penny images on the board. Once 5 pennies have been collected, the player removes the pennies and replaces them with a nickel. Extra pennies from the roll are then moved onto the penny images for the next roll. Nickels are collected at the top of the game board. Continue playing for an allotted time or until a certain amount of nickels are collected. The second game is played the same way, but once 2 nickels are collected they are exchanged for a dime. Dimes are collected at the top of the board.
