Activities for Gingerbread Stories from Around the World
UPDATED 4.30.18
As we head into winter break, my teaching partner and I are wrapping up our stories from around the world unit. To end the unit, we are looking at gingerbread stories from around the world. In a recent post, I shared well over 20 different versions of the traditional story.
Today I am sharing some of the activities we created to go along with all these wonderful stories. Right now we are in the thick of it so I do not have photos of it in action just yet, but will be coming back to this post to share them as soon as I have them. The complete packet of activities is available in BMTM’s TPT store.
The activity packet includes reading, writing and math ideas to do with your students whether it be in a traditional classroom or in a homeschool. Here are a few of the activities in the packet:
Writing Activities Include: What is your favorite gingerbread story writing activity, a story map for writing your own version and a gingerbread story planning strip. Writing paper also included. Also included is word cards for creating silly gingerbread stories.
Reading Activities Include: A graphic organizer for keeping track of the different versions of gingerbread stories and venn diagrams for comparing two stories
Math Activities Include: Favorite gingerbread stories class graph
I am really excited about using this activity pack with my students and cannot wait to add some more photos.
Here is a sneak peek at the updated materials:

So many creative ways to help kids compare gingerbread stories!!
This looks great and would love to use it!
I live this kind of literature lesson! Thanks for sharing!
You’re a talented little thing! The girls love gingerbread men (except they don’t like eating them) just making them or drawing them . So this is perfect!
Hi! I only know the traditional story I think, the gingerbread man is eaten by a boy and a girl. Best regards from Barcelona,
Marta
This looks like fantastic fun, I love the story writing templates and the colour sheets too.
