Magnetic Popsicle Sticks
I was browsing on Amazon for some magnet blocks for my boys when I came across a set of what looked like popsicle sticks, but they were magnetic. I thought they looked really cool and that my boys, especially my youngest, would enjoy them. I spent all day creating these sticks and was so excited to share them with the boys. Then I went back to Amazon to find the real toys, but it is as if they vanished! So, I Googled it and to my disappointment, found that lots of other creative people had the same idea as me. That said, I am still pretty pleased with our new magnet popsicles sticks even if the idea was not mine alone. 🙂
Materials:
- paint (we used acrylics) and brushes
- JUMBO wooden popsicle sticks (we got ours from CraftProjectsIdeas.com)
- magnetic tape
- scissors
Directions
Grab a handful of wooden popsicle sticks.
Paint the sticks a variety of colors (and patterns if you like) and then allow the sticks to dry completely.
Cut strips of magnetic tape that are a little shorter than the sticks.
Place one piece of magnetic tape on the back of each popsicle stick.
Once the tape is on, grab a cookie sheet or set yourself up in front of the fridge and enjoy your new magnetic popsicles sticks!
Your magnetic popsicle sticks can also be used for:
color identification
patterns
counting
letters
adding/subtracting
and more!
