Real Life Wednesdays: My Pug and a Box

Pug in a Box

Man, it has been a while since I have written anything for Real Life Wednesday at Picklebums. I miss it actually. It was a nice change from my typical posts. But, as always, life happens, time slips by and there wasn’t really much to say anyway. But this week I am back and finally have something to write about.

This week it is about my dog.

My dear, sweet, (mostly) blind Pug.

My Manzie dog.

Manzie is always trying to find something to eat whether it is toilet paper, chicken bones or grapes stolen from the bottom shelf of the fridge. She is notorious for “pre-washing” my dishes…with her tongue. I have always known this about Manzie and rarely surprised by her antics. But this time. This week. I WAS surprised.  Blown away in fact. And, a little saddened.

We came home at o’dark thirty and my other Pug came right to greet us, but Manzie was no where to be found. Needless to say, I panicked a bit, but finally found her.

In the corner.

Facing the wall.

With an empty cereal box on her head.

She was stuck and confused. My heart broke for her.  She couldn’t tell where she was or what had happened.  I was so sad that I couldn’t even take a picture of her with the box on her head.  I cuddled her and reassured her that all was okay- oh, and yes, I took the box off her head and then went about getting dinner ready.

A few minutes later, I heard some whimpering from the other room. I immediately ran to see what was happening. She had done it again. She was stuck in yet another empty cereal box waiting to be recycled.

This time, however, I got it on “film.”

  2. Hi – visiting from Picklebums. Your little dog is gorgeous. The poor poor thing – I hope she wasn’t stuck like that for too long before you got there.
But twice? Yeah, second time was fair game for a photo!

  3. LOL! Those pups don’t know how to generalize very well do they? As I sit here with my dogs at my feet, two random socks and pieces of my husband’s lambswool slippers. 🙂 Thanks for the smiles this morning!

  4. Oh my goodness. You’re Pug did that just for me, so I could see the photo. Poor muffin. You’d think she’d have learnt the first time. Gave me a little giggle though!
