“Ready? Press here and turn the page….”
My book dealer, aka my mom, did it again- she sent us another fantastic read. I love, love, love this book and so does my son. Press Here by Herve Tullet is an totally interactive book where “pushing” one dot leads to all sorts of fun. The best thing is that there is no computer, tv or phone involved with this interaction. All of it takes place on the pages of a good old fashioned, hardcover book!
I thought I would try to make our own version of Press Here with my son. I stapled together a few piece of white paper and picked up some dot stickers from the store and here is what we came up with.
First, we brainstormed some action words for the book. We came up with tilt. flip, press, rub, touch, pat, tap and shake. Then we place one dot on the cover and my son wrote the words, “Press Here” and his name on the cover. From there, we had two things to decide for each page. They were:
- What action word would we use on the page?
- What would happen to the dots on the following page?
My son did a really good job coming up with ideas and placing the dots the way he wanted them. We tested the book a few times when we were done to be sure it worked and it did!
Here is my son’s version. Sorry it is so small. Hopefully, you can still get the idea!

What a fun book! I love your little book too.
My daughters love this book, too! Nice idea for an activity to play with them. I love pairing activities with books, but I’m not nearly as creative as you are.
