Fall Rhyme: 5 Little Leaves
I haven’t created or shared a 5 Little… rhyme in quite some time. With fall right around the corner, I thought a leaf rhyme would be appropriate. My boys and I took out our paints, brushes and paper and made some fall paintings. We then cut out some leaf shapes and have been having fun with these 3 rhymes.
5 Little Leaves
Rhyme 1:
Five little leaves so bright and gay,
Were dancing in a tree one day.
The wind came blowing through the town,
One little leaf came tumbling down.
(repeat with 4, 3, 2..)
Rhyme 2:
Five little leaves up in a tree.
One little leaf said, “Look at me!”
The leaf let go and down he fell.
“EEEEEEEEE!”
Ouch! He didn’t feel so well.
(Repeat with four, three,…)
Rhyme 3:
Five little leaves on the tree next door,
One fell off and then there were four,
Four little leaves all over the tree,
A bird pulled off one and then there were three,
Three little leaves where the wind blew,
One fell off and then there were two,
Two little leaves sitting in the sun,
A bug ate a leaf and now there is one,
One little leaf in the tree all alone
The wind blew and blew and now there are none

Here is how we made our leaves:
I had my boys use fall colors to completely cover some white paper then allowed it to dry.
I Googled “leaf stencils” and found some I liked then printed them out.

Hi! Thank you so much for this sweet simple fall poems/activities! Would it be okay for me to include it in a round-up blog post I am working on (10 fall poems & activities for young readers)? (Permission to link to your site and possibly use the image to show your poem?) I would be so honored, and of course I would leave a link to this page to tell people where it came from! 🙂 My blog is http://www.mythreereaders.com. Thank you!
Of course! Thank you for asking!

Love these rhymes … as a Kindergarten teacher I know a lot of ‘5 little’ rhymes – but these are new to me! My Sammy will love them – and I love the leaves with Googly eyes. So cute!
So simple and so cute. Pinned too xx
Great way to talk to the kiddies about colours. My daughter loves anything with a song so I’ll have to remember these ones.
