Boy Mama: Multiplication Grid Game {After School Linky}

Multiplication Grid Game

Boy Mama Teacher Mama Multiplication Grid Game (featured)

And we are onto multiplication facts in our house. My second grader is learning multiplication at school and as math is not the easiest thing for him, I created this game. Not sure if I made this up or it if exists out there somewhere, but this is my version!! We haven’t been able to play it yet since we are on winter break and I am without a printer at home. So bear with my screen shots until I have some pictures of the real deal. 🙂

Preparation

Print the grid you would like to use- there are two sizes.

Print the cards you would like to use: single digits OR multiplication facts by number (ie 2s or 5s). See image above.

Play

The first player, draws two cards (if using the single digit cards) or a multiplication fact card.

He figures out the answers then draws the answer on the grid paper in the form of an array and writes the multiplication fact nearby. For example, if the fact is 2×2, the player would do the following:

Other players repeat the same steps until there is no more room on the paper.

The goal of the game is to fill in more spaces on the grid than those you are playing with. Oh, and of course, to practice those multiplication facts!!!
