I came across another fantastic website today called, “Getting Boys to Read.” There is so much information about boys and reading on this site. My favorite article by far is called, “Boy Needs to MOVE IT: How to Use Movement to Help Boys Become Better Readers.”
Thanks for this link. Both of my boys love to read, but it is a great reminder of how they have very different reading personalities then my daughter. I liked the “Move it” article. Although, I am now feeling a little guilty that I thought my son was a little odd for talking to his book, re-reading out load and carrying and reliving the story as he takes bathroom breaks etc.
It was a great reminder to me too, Melissa. The boys both attend to stories differently and I have to remember that some wiggling and fidgeting doesn’t mean they aren’t listening and learning!
