Books about Clouds

I was introduced to the book, Cloudette, by my son’s preschool teacher and was immediately smitten. My son (3) loves it too. We have read it over and over and each time he is just as excited to read it as he was the first time. Below are some other books about clouds to enjoy as well.

Cloudette by Tom Litchenheld

Cloudette is a small cloud and sometimes being small has its advantages. People call you cute nicknames and you can always find a good spot to rest. But what happens when you are small and you want to do something big like water a giant garden? Well, Cloudette shows readers that no matter what your size, if you make up your mind, you can do anything you want to do!

The Cloud Spinner by Michael Catchpool

One small boy has a special gift- he can weave cloth from the clouds. He weaves gold in the morning, white in the afternoon and crimson in the evening. He spins just enough to make a warm scarf. But when the king sees his creation, he demands that the boys make it cloaks and gowns galore. The boy warns the king that it would not be wise, but the king stands strong and demands the boy’s cloth and soon the whole world begins to change.

There once was a cloud who was lonely, but he soon discovered a way he would not be lonely anymore….

The Cloud Book by Tomie dePaola

This book introduces the ten most common cloud types and the myths that have been inspired by their shapes. This book also includes what clouds tell us about coming weather changes.

Little Cloud by Eric Carle

The clouds all drift across the bright, blue sky, well all except one that is. Little Cloud trails behind the other clouds because he is busy changing his shape!

It Looked Like Spilt Milk by Charles Shaw

A classic for sure. A variety of white shapes against a blue sky that turn out to really be just a cloud in the sky.

A simple book that introduces basic facts about clouds.

What Do You See in a Cloud? (A Rookie Read-About Science Book) by Alan Fowler

Simple text and pictures describe what clouds are made of, how they differ from one another and why they fall back to earth as rain.
