Spring Word Family Game

Unlike flowers, word families are always in season. I created this spring flower word family game for one of my fellow kindergarten teachers. It took a long time to get the ladybugs just the way I wanted them and I am pretty pleased with how they turned out. Here is how to play.

Materials

templates

card stock

scissors

glue

Preparation

Print the templates on the card stock.

Cut out the flower and attach the stem using glue.

Cut out the ladybugs, stack them in a pile and place them face down.

To Play

Give each player a word family flower or have a small group all use the same flower. The first player chooses a ladybug from the pile and places it on the flower to create a word. The player reads the word to the group realizing that some words are real words and some will be nonsense words. The game continues as such until all players have had a few turns or completed a whole flower.
