Hanukkah is almost here and we have created this fun dreidel counting book to use with your students.  Children practice colors and counting to eight while sticking or stamping dreidels.

Directions for making the book and for creating your own dreidel stamps are below.

Making the Dreidel Stamps

We created our own dreidel stamps using the method described in our post, Stamping Skeletons.  Using an eraser, a pencil and a sharp blade, I drew a dreidel on the eraser then used the blade to cut it out.  I made a few dreidel stamps to use with the different colors stamp pads.

You can also find dreidel stamps at your local craft store or online. Stickers would works as well as drawing the dreidels with markers, crayons or colored pencils.

Provide children with colored stamp pads (or paint) and stamps. For this book you will need blue, green, red, yellow, orange, purple, rose (pink) and brown stamp pads. We used our favorite stamp pads from Colorations.

Then, working with your child or student, read the line on each paper, choose the correct stamp pad color and then stamp that many dreidels on the correct page. Below are 4 of the pages we made together.

Finally, mount the front cover paper on colored paper, create a back cover and put the book together with a staple at the top.

Now your Spider’s Dreidels: A Hanukkah Counting Book is done and ready for reading and counting!
