Happy Birthday Earth!
We are not done with Earth Day just yet! In fact, we have made Earth Day into Earth Week in our school. Today, we wrote birthday cards to the Earth. The students had two tasks. The first was to draw a picture of what they wanted to give the Earth for its birthday and the second was to write a birthday message for the Earth. The kids really liked this idea and were very thoughtful with their gifts.
After the students pictures were complete and their writing was done, we “wrapped” the picture in recycled wrapping paper we found in the art cabinet. So, after reading the message, you “open” the gift to see the picture. Here are some examples:
